The many areas of heath found in the New Forest provides ideal habitat for heathland specialists such as the Stonechat, Dartford Warbler, Woodlark, European Nightjar and the Hobby. During the Winter months Great Grey Shrike, Short Eared Owls, Hen Harriers and Merlin can be found.
