African Elephants under a Stormy Sky – Fine Art

Wildlife photography tends to rely on a certain amount of luck and that certainly happened to be the case on this particular occasion. Leaving camp early one evening the sky was a clear blue and not a cloud in sight. The scene ahead comprised of a small herd of elephants wandering across the savannah and appeared to be nothing exceptional photographically speaking.  However a few minutes after passing the herd I just happened to look back to check out the scene and was amazed to see the rapidly expanding storm clouds forming on the horizon. Within 15 minutes the whole scene had changed with angry black clouds scudding across the plain contrasting strongly with the elephants and grasses that were still being illuminated by the low evening sun ……. a magical moment indeed.
